Today we learned that Bayern Munch are only 10 points clear atop the Bundesliga, so they’re pretty much hot trash.
But also, if you needed confirmation that Barcelona is the best team in the world right now, wait for them to win El Clasico later today and today should have cemented it.
This is what winning at the Allianz Arena looks like.
Gladbach are still attacking! They’re up 2-0 at the Allianz Arena and Bayern still can’t keep the ball, generate an attack or do anything. It’s allllll Gladbach!
Are Bayern Munich in crisis? How big is their crisis? How much crisis? Death of the club crisis?
And again it goes through Neuer! This one isn’t bad like the last one, but the goalkeeper will want it back. And it’s 2-0 to Gladbach!
The Bundesliga is still sustaining the flag business.
This is a clean tackle by this match’s standards.
If Bayern Munich lose, their lead atop the Bundesliga will only be 10 points. Pretty terrible team they have.
This match is getting dirty. Gladbach, upset about prior fouls gone uncalled, are taking runs at Bayern players now. Finally, a yellow card is shown, but Xabi Alonso doesn’t take kindly to it and refuses to shake hands after.
No handbags … YET.
The second half is underway. Bayern are down 1-0 on the scoreboard, but lead 61 possessions to 39 possessions.
It’s halftime and Gladbach still lead Bayern, 1-0. Devil magic.
Gladbach’s last ditch defending has been incredible … and dangerous. Another Bayern player is down, but this one was clean.
A beautiful move puts the ball on Rafael’s foot. The shot wasn’t good, but Neuer let to go right through him and squirted across the line!
“Oh, crap. The second leading scorer in the Bundesliga is hurt. What are we doing to do?!?”
“You should bring on the fifth leading scorer in the Bundesliga.”
“Oh right, we are assholes.”
The last foul drawn by Robben left him hurt and Muller is coming on for the Dutchman. Hopefully Robben is’t too seriously injured.
But consider this: BAYERN CAN BRING THOMAS MULLER OFF THE BENCH.
I have no stats to back this up, but Arjen Robben must draw more yellow cards on opponents than any other player in the world.
It’s a bummer that Bayern don’t wear blue and white checkers or diamonds like in their crest.
Bayern are winning 100 possessions to 0 possessions.
They’re underway at the Allianz Arena, and Gladbach haven’t conceded yet. Congrats!
Borussia Monchegladbach are as expected.
If you want to wave your America flag high, Fabian Johnson is starting.
There’s nothing particularly notable about the Bayern Munich starting XI:
But look at that bench and you see Thiago is back! He hasn’t played since the New Year, but he’s available as a substitute today.
Gladbach are in fourth place with a match in hand. That sounds great! Until you realize they are 20 points behind first place Bayern Munich.
