If you forgot that Ronaldinho was in LigaMX with Querétaro, no one would blame you. There have been times during the season that Querétaro has forgotten, too. None of that matters tonight, as your former favorite player is back from whatever Purgatory he’s been floating in.
On a day when Brazilian media (translated) speculated about his pending retirement at the end of this season, Ronaldinho walked into Estadio Azteca and left with two goals, scoring twice in the span of six minutes during Querétaro’s surprising 4-0 win over Club América. He refuted the retirement reports earlier today.
“I want to continue until I feel competitive. I will not retire at the end of the season. I’m happy to be back here [in the Mexican capital.]
“We have to think about finishing well this season and then see how we can do even better next.”
His first goal probably could have been finished by a few people reading this right now, but goal number two flashed a bit of the skill we’ve missed seeing from Ronaldinho these past few years.
Soccer is just a better place with an active Ronaldinho hanging around and giving us something fun to watch every once in a while. Judging by his celebrations, it looks like he knows this to be true as well.
