Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer celebrate weird body parts you can’t show on TV

When comedian Chris Gethard asked Broad City‘s Ilana Glazer to look at penises attached to actual men during a live taping of his new show, she reacted exactly how one might expect: happy to oblige.

Yes, Glazer and her Broad City co-star Abbi Jacobson stopped by the premiere episode of Fusion’s The Chris Gethard Show Tuesday night, and things got weird (in a good way).

The theme of the episode was “show us the weirdest thing about your body,” and since a lot of people apparently have strange things on their genitals (or perhaps view anything involving their genitals as weird?), it was only matter of time before the special guests were face-to-face with some balls.

Of course, broadcasting genitals is waaay too NSFW even for cable TV, so Gethard and his team cleverly constructed a “genital chamber”—a silver, box-like apparatus in which Gethard and Glazer could surreptitiously check out callers’ nether regions via Skype monitors while the rest of the audience, including viewers at home watching a live stream of the show, were left in the dark.

Which is how Glazer ended up checking out three schlongs—while Jacobson sat by and sketched the genitals based on her co-star’s reactions. When one caller presented Gethard and Glazer with a heart-shaped growth on his penis, for example, Glazer commented, “It’s like natural ribbing for her pleasure.” She then added that he should probably see a doctor, but that didn’t mean his penis was not “not cute.”

Glazer’s reaction resulted in this sketch from Jacobson:

While I can’t claim I’m totally unbiased covering a Fusion show, I can say with confidence that the stunt—and the entire episode—carried a refreshingly body-positive message: No one is perfect and imperfect bodies are beautiful. Gethard reinforced this message throughout the show-and-tell, even pointing out his self-professed weird elbows and “little claw hands.”

For the uninitiated,The Chris Gethard Show tapes in front of a live studio audience Tuesday nights at 8 PM ET and is streamed via Fusion.net and YouTube. It incorporates Skype callers, a live chat room, and for a couple hours feels more like a hangout than a talk show. The final edited version of the show airs Thursday nights at 10 PM ET on Fusion TV.
