Memo to Brazil, Spain: These kits are absolutely not ok

Brazil are the greatest international soccer country in history. They have won the World Cup more than any other nation and have produced the best-ever men’s and women’s players in PelĂ© and Marta. People all around the globe know Brazil, which means they know the team’s famous yellow and green kits.

When it comes to the modern men’s game, there isn’t anyone better than Spain, two-time Euro winners with a World Cup title to boot, all from 2008 to 2012. Their women’s team is coming along, too, powered by the magnificent Vero Boquete. Like the men, the women are known as La Furia Roja, The Red Fury.

So when the two teams met at the Women’s World Cup, it should have been a scintillating clash of Marta vs. Vero and, of course, the historic yellow and green vs. the distinctive red.

Let’s take a look:

What the hell is that crap? That’s not yellow vs. red. That’s blue vs. white. These women could be representing any color in the world. Those women do not look like Brazil vs. Spain.

Maybe our eyes are broken?

NO OUR EYES AREN’T BROKEN, THE KITS ARE BROKEN.

Who okayed this nonsense and will they be punished by a good stoning?

Brazil and Spain are playing, in a World freaking Cup at that, and it’s blue vs. white? Cancel the match, send them back into the locker room, give them proper kits and we’ll start again.
