Actress, author, and activist: Maria Bello: 'Whatever, love is love'
The actress Maria Bello has appeared in so many things that shaped us. The movie “Thank You For Smoking” made anxious and jittery and somehow not want a cigarette. The show “ER” made us realize men can be beautiful. (You were our first love, Noah Wyle.) And the movie “Coyote Ugly” made us want to … be Maria Bello.
Apparently, badass-ery runs in he family. When Maria’s son Jack was 12, she told him she was romantically involved with a woman. His reply? “Whatever, Mom, love is love.”
That inspired Maria to write a new book called, yes, “Whatever…. Love is Love: Questioning the Labels We Give Ourselves.” We caught up with Bello to discuss the book. We’re feeling the warm and fuzzies.
