Stugotz's Game Notes: 'The Karate Kid' is better than 'Rocky'
Jameis Winston may have been the No. 1 pick in this year’s NFL draft, but not everyone in the football world is ignoring his track record off the field. During a radio interview on Tuesday night, legendary Florida State University football coach Bobby Bowden called Winston “an embarrassment” to FSU, Winston’s alma mater.
Winston, who won the 2013 Heisman Trophy and helped FSU win its third national championship in 2014 as its star quarterback, was accused of rape in 2012, and has also been accused of shoplifting. Winston has denied the rape allegations, and recently filed a countersuit against his accuser, Erica Kinsman.
Bowden’s comments outraged some football fans but, according to ESPN radio contributor Greg Cote, they’re unusual for a guy who normally “speaks in cornpone.”
