Sleep in the Slums? World Cup Visitors Book Rooms in Favelas

Tens of thousands of soccer fans will pack Rio this summer for the World Cup, and already the city is running out of hotel rooms. With traditional hotels going for more than $450 a night, a number of companies are pushing a cheaper alternative in the city’s favelas, the huge slums that surround the city. Fusion Live host Pedro Andrade goes to the biggest favela, Rocinha, to meet a young American now offering rooms to visitors — and to see whether the infamously dangerous slums are ready for a wave of tourists.
