32-year-old Dunia Zelaya began her life with what seemed like endless challenges. She came to the United States from Honduras at a young age and soon after was forced in sex trafficking by her mother. By the age of 12, she was pregnant with her first child. Dunia eventually found herself living on the streets, turning to gangs to survive and becoming addicted to drugs. It seemed like all hope was lost until she found Homeboy Industries. Founded in 1988 and based in Los Angeles, Homeboy Industries is an organization that provides support, job training and life skills for former gang members and ex-offenders. Thanks to this community, Dunia has turned her life around.
