This underwater robot camp is teaching girls to be badass engineers

The tech world is hella white. This free coding school has a solution

28-year-old Bronx native Jerelyn Rodriguez is using the power of coding to propel her community into the information economy. She’s the co-founder of The Knowledge House, a nonprofit that teaches cutting-edge tech skills to low-income youth, arming them with portfolios that make them competitive with grads from top colleges. “It’s not just, ‘Oh, I’m a part of a coding bootcamp and I get classes for free,'” says Rodriguez. “No, you are a part of bringing economic empowerment to your neighborhood.”
